Aladdin Pest Control was founded by Seymour Levy, Ted and Irwin's Dad, in 1958, and was incorporated in 1960. Seymour wanted the company name to begin with an A, making it one of the first listings in the yellow pages. Seymour then coined the first Aladdin slogan, "Insect and Rodent Problems Solved Like Magic". Seymour's initial marketing campaign consisted of his children delivering circulars door to door on bicycles to the Manhasset Hills section of New Hyde Park, LI. The campaign was a rousing success, and Seymour was hired by many of the residents. Incredibly, we are still working for a number of these original customers, and their children. The first Aladdin "office" was in Seymour's in-laws home in Brooklyn, followed by his own home in Floral Park, Queens, where his wife Rhoda answered the phone while raising three children. After a brief period of time at a small shed like building on Linden Blvd in St. Albans, Queens, Seymour relocated the office in 1970 to Garden City Park, where we remain to this day. In 1972, Ted joined the business, and a 15 year old Irwin began riding with his Dad on weekends and during the summer, learning the business from the ground up. Seymour retired and moved to Florida in 1980, leaving the business to Ted and Irwin. He died suddenly in 1996, but his sons have kept his vision alive: A hands on, owner-operated, relationship based service, with meticulous attention to detail, and an unsurpassed level of customer service.
