The Association for the Help of Retarded Children is one of the largest consumer-based nonprofit organizations. It serves more than 11,000 individuals with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. The association provides a range of general and educational advocacy services. It additionally offers full-day educational services to preschoolers who are diagnosed with autism. The Association for the Help of Retarded Children also organizes summer camps and year-round recreational activities.
