History
In the fall of 1958, Valley View Methodist Church was able to purchase four acres of desert land east of the city. The little congregation had a vision and a plan to build a proper church. The church facility would be built in stages as funds were raised and the congregation grew. Groundbreaking for the first unit occurred in late September 1959 before any of the surrounding streets had even been graded. Later, the street in front of the church was named South Locust Street. The first unit of the new church consisted of a fellowship hall, which would be used as the sanctuary, two classrooms, restrooms, and a kitchen area. The completed building was consecrated on January 31, 1960. In the 1950's the multi-purpose room had become very popular in building construction. Our fellowship hall was really just a big -box room that could be reconfigured for different events. On Sunday mornings, it was a formal sanctuary for the worship of God.
