Created in 1967, the Championship Golf Course is situated on the University of New Mexico campus. The course is a 7,248-yard, par-72 layout with long and wide fairways, continuously variable elevations and rolling greens. It also features a variety of hazards, including tall rough, loose desert sand, and numerous water and sagebrush hazards. The course has a practice facility with 40-yard wide fairways and almost 25,000 square feet of undulating and flat greens. The course hosted the 1950, 1976, 1992 and 1998 National Collegiate Athletic Association men s golf championships, as well as the 1979, 1982 and 1989 Western Athletic Conference men s championship rounds. The Championship Course has been home to the William H. Tucker Invitational for more than 35 years. The Championship Golf Course in located in Albuquerque, N.M.
