The New Mexico Office of the Secretary of State works to perform a range of duties related to purchasing, legal counsel, personnel matters, information systems and public relations. It is responsible for providing depository for legislative journals. The office also works to record and file referendum petitions signed by qualified electors disapproving laws enacted during the last preceding legislative session. The New Mexico Office of the Secretary of State is responsible for implementing federal, state, county, municipal and school election laws. It works to file financial disclosure statements and campaign, lobbyist and political committee reports. The office is also responsible for developing and distributing election supplies and forms.
