Founded in 1995 and located in Taos, N.M., Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is a youth service organization that focuses on the development of leadership, citizenship and employability skills in youth by improving relationships in the community through service. The organization s methods include civic participation, preservation and restoration of environment, and overall life skills building for youth in northern New Mexico. It has hired more than 1,000 youth to deliver community services for school children, economically disadvantaged families, senior citizens, local agencies and public land users. Rocky Mountain Youth Corps provides training and education to individuals for developing various skills, including personal financial management and professional communication, first aid services, conflict resolution, resume creation and interviewing skills, and work-specific and civic responsibility skills. The organization also provides on-the-job training in carpentry, home building and renovation, curriculum development and environmental restoration.
