June 1973: Mid-Valley Weekly Observer launches weekly on June 8. Office is located in Corrales. September 1975: Rio Rancho Observer offices move to 1117 Rio Rancho Boulevard. November 1985: McCaffrey sells the Observer to Wick Communications on 11/1. August 1989: Rio Rancho Observer offices move to 1594 Sara Road. April 1996: Rio Rancho Observer becomes a twice-weekly publication (Wednesdays and Fridays). September 2008: The Rio Rancho Observer ceases publishing the Mid-Week edition. May 2009: David McCollum and Rockford Hayes acquire the Rio Rancho Observer from Wick Communications on May 1. Hayes moves to Rio Rancho and assumes publisher responsibilities. April 2010: RRO resurrects the mid-week edition, Wednesdays. October 2012: Rio Rancho Observer is sold to a new company: RR Community Publishing LLC, jointly owned by Hayes and Journal Publishing Company. April 2015: RRO moves to NEW office, located at 409 NM Hwy 528 (Suite 101).
