Established in 1905, the New Mexico State Police preserves human lives and property, protects public peace and the rights of citizens, prevents crime and disorder, and enforces state and federal laws. It undertakes various criminal cases and works with other state, local and federal agencies to ensure the safety of exchange of information between law enforcement officers and the public. The New Mexico State Police maintains a variety of specialized teams, such as accident reconstruction, aircraft aviation, bicycle patrol, bomb team, crime scene and criminal investigation. In addition, the department has an emergency response team, K-9 unit and honor guard. Headquartered in Sante Fe, N.M., the New Mexico State Police maintains a station location in Farmington, N.M.
