Established in 1990, New Mexico Office of Archaeological Studies conducts archaeological research projects throughout New Mexico. Based in Santa Fe, N.M., the office serves state agencies and private organizations that require archaeological studies to be performed as part of their development projects. In addition, it provides ethnographic and historical research services. New Mexico Office of Archaeological Studies is a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. The office conducts clearance surveys for the Abandoned Mine Land Program of the Mining and Minerals Division, which is a part of the New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department.
