The Lea County Detention Center is responsible for establishing a safe, secure and humane facility for inmates in custody. The center offers shelter, food, clothing and medical care services. Its medical unit features an outpatient clinic and more than eight inpatient beds. The Lea County Detention Center also includes a computer laboratory, library and air recreation yards. The center hosts community groups and schedule meetings. It offers opportunities for Bible studies, as well as counseling through religious volunteers. In addition, the center provides education through morning and afternoon classes. Its average daily population is more than 300 adult and over 10 juvenile inmates. The Lea County Detention Center is a more than 30-bed facility that is located in Lovington, N.M.
