Dr. Joseph Ortiz was born in Santa Fe, and grew up in a variety of cities throughout New Mexico before his graduation from Las Cruces High School. Dr. Ortiz completed his undergraduate degree at The University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, and then attended Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During medical school, Dr. Ortiz was active in a variety of civic and volunteer activities, which earned him the Jerry Zaslow Award for high academic achievement and community involvement. He completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. That training program is known for teaching management of high risk obstetrics and high order multiples, as well as training in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Ortiz is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is also a member of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). His main clinical interests are obstetrical and gynecologic ultrasound, pregnancy management, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Dr. Ortiz is married to Amy and the couple has three children. They try to remain active in the community through their church, school activities, and Boy Scouts. In his free time Dr. Ortiz enjoys fishing (particularly fly-fishing), camping, and football.
