The Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department, also known as EMNRD, consists of more than five divisions and employs a staff of over 400 people at nearly 45 worksites throughout New Mexico. Founded in 1987, the department s energy conservation and management division develops and implements clean energy programs of clean fuels and transportation to promote environmental sustainability for the state and its citizens. Its forestry division provides technical advice on forest and resource management to private landowners based on their objectives. The Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department s mining and minerals division promotes public specializes in the utilization, conservation, reclamation and safeguarding of land and resources affected by mining.
