Challenge New Mexico, located in Santa Fe, N.M., and established in 1957, is a nonprofit organization that provides health care and support services to people suffering from various disabilities. The organization has a staff of professional and trained nurses, psychologists, social workers and volunteers. It also has professional counselors who provide counseling services to individuals and their families suffering from physical and learning disabilities. The organization also provides physical, occupational and speech therapies. Challenge New Mexico also provides technical assistance and education to community schools and human service agencies to facilitate the inclusion and provide equitable access to opportunities to individuals suffering from various disabilities. Additionally, Challenge New Mexico organizes instruction classes for horse riding with the aid of professional instructors who provide training for muscle strengthening exercises according to the individual s capabilities. It also provides various sports activities, such as basketball, skiing and adventure trips.
