The NJ Crossing Guard Training Resources Program, supported by the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, provides research-based training and tools for crossing guards and their supervisors. They assist children in safely crossing roadways to and from school, while also promoting appropriate street skills and behavior for young pedestrians.
As part of the NJ Safe Routes to School Resource Center, the Crossing Guard Program prepares crossing guards for their duties and supports them through projects that address pedestrian safety. With additional funding from the New Jersey Municipal Excess Liability Joint Insurance Fund and support from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, they offer in-person training and resources for crossing guards in communities across the state.
