This independent footwear shop specializes in attractive custom-made orthopedic footwear and sells ready-made therapeutic shoes that are custom fitted with inner molds. The Shoe Store for Problem Feet caters mainly to people who suffer from corns, hammertoes, heel spurs and other medical conditions, but also serves clients whose jobs keep them on their feet.
The shop offers a complete range of restoration, repair and alteration services, as well as shoe-care products. All of the work is done on the premises by top craftsmen under the supervision of owner Ellsworth James, who got his start as an apprentice at New York's T.O. Dey in 1970. A longtime customer refers to James as "Teaneck's foot doctor."
