Dedicated to preserving the history of the city, the Historical Society is a prime destination for historical research. History buffs will enjoy combing through the organization's large archive of photographs, genealogy files, Summit house files, other historic structures surveys, maps, newspapers, postcards, yearbooks and city tax atlases.
The Summit Historical Society also partners with the Summit Fire Department in the Friends of the Fire Truck initiative, which provide funding and materials for the restoration, housing and maintenance of Summit's now-decommissioned 1927 Chemical Engine No. 1.
