Public Defenders Office
This is the Morris County regional headquarters of the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender, which provides legal representation for adults and juveniles who are charged with criminal offenses and cannot afford to hire their own lawyers. The New Jersey Public Defender is appointed to a five-year term by the Governor, with the approval of the State Senate. Yvonne Smith Segars currently heads the agency, and Deputy Public Defender Dolores D. Mann, heads the Morris County office. Specially trained public defenders are available to represent juveniles, abused and neglected children, parents in Title 30 cases and non-violent drug offenders who qualify for Drug Court.
