Seven Chimneys, also known as the Nicholas Zabriskie House, is a historic landmark in Washington Township, Bergen County, New Jersey. Built between 1745 and 1750 by Nicholas Zabriskie, an early Dutch settler, it is the oldest house in the township and was a stop on the Underground Railroad.
This well-preserved example of Dutch settler architecture features distinctive hand-cut beam frames, hand-chiseled Hudson River sandstone exterior, and original growth pine floors fastened with handmade square nails. With notable visitors like Theodore Roosevelt and a rich history dating back to the 18th century, Seven Chimneys offers a glimpse into the past of the Hudson Valley region.
