Schweitzer-Mauduit International is a diversified producer of premium specialty papers and is the world s largest supplier of fine papers to the tobacco industry. The company does business with more than 90 countries and is an employer of nearly 3,800 throughout the world. The company maintains operations in the United States, including its location in Spotswood, N.J., as well as France, Brazil, Indonesia, the Philippines and Canada. A spin-off of the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Schweitzer-Mauduit International was founded in 1995, but its manufacturing facilities have a history that date back to the 1500s. The company s domestic mills led to the development of the North American tobacco-related papers manufacturing industry. Schwietzer-Mauduit International s products include cigarette papers; plug wrap and tipping papers used to wrap various parts of a cigarette; reconstituted tobacco leaf for use as filler in cigarettes; reconstituted tobacco wrappers and binders for cigars; and paper products used in cigarette packaging.
