Lafayette Avenue School "is designed to meet the special learning needs of students in grades four and five," according to the district's Web site. As part of the school's Learning Links program, students are able to pick various programs throughout the year designed to enhance their creativity. The courses offered through the program include shadow puppetry, acting, quilting, rocketry, survival skills, sand art, string design, nature studies, bookbinding, chess, artwork, brain games and greenhouse planting. Students take periodic trips to a local food bank, where they help volunteer. Cheryl Caggiano is the school principal.
