The Department of Public Works is governed by the village of Ridgewood in New Jersey. The department operates an engineering division that issues site degrading, soil, curb, sidewalk, street opening and sanitary sewer connection permits. It also has a fleet service division that provides maintenance and repair services for village-owned motor vehicles, trucks and equipment, as well as operates a central village garage for vehicular storage. The Department of Public Works installs, repairs and maintains parking meters, traffic signals, lines and markers. In addition, it offers street sweeping, snow removal, and vegetative waste collection and recycling services. The department maintains public streets, curbs, gutters, drainage facilities and catch basins. Its water pollution control division operates a sewer treatment plant and pumping stations.
