Pinelands Wastewater Company is part of Middlesex Water System. The system was organized in 1897, as a New Jersey water utility to provide water services to approximately 59,500 retail customers primarily in central New Jersey. These retail customers are located in Woodbridge Township, the boroughs of Metuchen and Carteret, portions of Edison Township, portions of the Borough of South Plainfield, the city of South Amboy in Middlesex County, and portions of the Township of Clark in Union County. The Company also provides water services under contract to municipalities in central New Jersey with a population of 303,000. Middlesex withdraws water from the Delaware and Raritan Canal through its intake and pumping station in New Brunswick, N.J. Water is transported through a supply water main for treatment and distribution at the company s Carl J. Olsen Water Treatment Plant in Edison, N.J. Facilities at the CJO Plant consist of source of supply, pumping, water treatment, transmission, storage, laboratory and general facilities. Pinelands Wastewater has a location in Iselin, N.J.
