History
Our Savior's Child Care Center is an affiliate of the Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge YMCA. This YMCA has been serving the community since 1921. The number of programs offered to YMCA members has progressively increased since the opening of the facility. In the late 1980's the YMCA Board of Directors recognized the need to meet the pressing demands of providing quality child care in our community. The YMCA created a network of child care centers throughout the Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge area beginning in 1990. Our Savior's YMCA Child Care Center opened its doors on January 2, 1992. The center is a co-sponsored program between the Metuchen Edison Woodbridge YMCA and Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The center operates year round for children 6 weeks to 12 years of age. There are four classrooms in operation with the present capacity of serving up to 83 children per day.
Specialties
Our Program offers outstanding care options to support families in any way necessary all year round. We offer full-day and half-day child care options for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age to accomodate commuters, full-time and part-time working parents, and even families who are home. Our state approved curriculum develops a base of social skills & academics that all children will need when they move to the public school system. The program also offers before and after school care for the public school across the street, Menlo Park Elementary School in Edison, NJ. These programs supplement the times the children are not in school, but parents are working or commuting. The center opens at 7:00am and is open until 6:30pm. During that time we offer homework time, physical activity, a nutritious snack, special events, and fun recreational and academic-based enrichment opportunities. Summer Camp is also offered from June - August.
