Established in 1965, Northwest New Jersey Community Action Program is a private, nonprofit corporation that serves low-income individuals in Hunterdon, Sussex and Warren counties in New Jersey. The corporation operates an educational and financial resource center and provides social, health care and nutrition services for disadvantaged children and families. It offers job training, housing and case management programs for disabled people. The corporation also has a career and life transition center for women. Northwest New Jersey Community Action Program provides economic development services that include child care, automobile and mortgage loans. It offers opportunities for individuals over the age of 55 to participate in community through volunteer services. The corporation additionally provides alcohol counseling, outreach, information and utility assistance services. Northwest New Jersey Community Action Program employs more than 200 persons and is administratively responsible to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.
