Founded in 1739, Morris County Office of the County Clerk records and maintains land records, such as maps, mortgages, deeds and other related legal documents. The office processes passport applications, issues identification cards and maintains military discharges for veterans. It administers several election functions, such as the preparation and mailing of election ballots, nomination petitions and voting results. The office also provides training sessions on voting machines for general, primary, school board and special elections. It compiles a public manual of information on the county and its municipalities each year. The office performs more than 100 weddings ceremonies annually.
