History
The Montclair History Center was started as the Montclair Historical Society in 1965 as an attempt to save the Israel Crane building. Built in 1796, it was on it's way to be demolished for a new Y, when a group of people came together to save it by moving it to a piece of donated land in another part of town. The Society was formed, raised the money they needed to save the house and the rest is history.
