The Middletown Township Police Department was founded in 1928 and was staffed by a lone patrolman/police chief who rode a donated motorcycle around town and had no headquarters. Today, it has grown to one of the largest police departments in the state, manned with more than 100 officers, and a K-9 specialist in explosives detection. The department's PBA and associated organizations host many charitable events, fundraisers, substance abuse awareness initiatives and police explorers.
