Maywood Board of Education is an elected governmental unit of seven members. The board is responsible for conducting the affairs of Maywood Public Schools. Its major function is to formulate policies to provide an action guide for school personnel so that the schools may operate efficiently. The school superintendent is the board's chief executive officer and is responsible for directing the operations of the schools within the policies set forth by the board. It holds various public board meetings where members of the public are invited to speak on the topics as set forth in the agenda. Maywood Board of Education also holds executive sessions to discuss certain topics, which by law are to be discussed in private. The board of education is located in Maywood, N.J.
