Karen Balonze, MD is a member of Summit Healths Internal Medicine team. Dr. Balonze has expertise in providing guidance to patients on preventive care services as well as the diagnosis and management of chronic medical conditions. Dr. Balonze is committed to providing compassionate and quality care in the outpatient setting. She enjoys getting to know her patients and looks forward to developing lifelong relationships with them. As a proponent of preventive care, Dr. Balonze feels strongly that our lifestyle, including food choices and exercise habits, has a profound impact on our well-being. She looks forward to providing her patients with the proper tools and advice they need to improve or maintain their overall health. Before joining Summit Health, Dr. Balonze practiced as a General Internist with New Jersey Associates in Medicine. Prior to embarking on her medical career, she worked in the laboratory of a Nobel Laureate at Columbia University, a job that culminated in publication in the prestigious journal, Nature.In recognition of her commitment to providing compassionate care, Dr. Balonze received the Dr. Robert S. Pinals Award for Humanism & Professionalism during her second year of internal medicine residency training at Rutgers RWJMS.When she is not caring for patients, Dr. Balonze enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
