History
Brothers John and Mike Garofalo started the Shellish Company in 1974. John was 22 years old, and Mike was 18 when they opened their restaurant with only two items on the menu- a steamed lobster platter and a steamed shrimp platter, both priced at $3.95. Over the next 45+ years the brothers have grown their business and reputation as a Long Beach Island institution and summer tradition for residents and visitors alike.
