History
In the 1930's, Gyp's Tavern was originally started by Gyp himself, in the Sport Shop across the street. In 1943 he moved Gyp's to its current location, right on Lake Kittatinny. One of his most famous and frequent customers was Babe Ruth. Bob and Linda took over in 1974 and ran it successfully for 40 years. In April of 2014, Linda and Bill bought Gyp's, as their military retirement plan, and with a few tweaks, turned it into what it is today, a fun, welcoming place to enjoy a few drinks with friends.
Specialties
We are a tavern specializing in thirst-quenching, affordable drinks, delicious food, friendly staff, and a unique atmosphere, all right on Lake Kittatinny! We serve cold draft beer, a wide variety of craft and specialty IPAs, the latest mixed drinks, and fine wines. We even offer cold beer and spirits to go! We are an independently and veteran-owned tavern--not a chain! We enjoy a good mix of local patrons, weekend lake folk, Appalachian Trail hikers, campers, veterans, friendly bikers, hunters, and even dogs, outside only, please! We offer occasional live music, supplemented by an unlimited internet juke box, and fantastic Bose surround sound system. We also have a pool table-free on Saturday nights! We have seasonal outdoor seating and a dock, right on the Lake! Enjoy a frosty cold one, while taking in a breath-taking sunset. Or challenge your friends to a rousing game of Corn Hole. Or perhaps, just relax in the hammock! Special events include: our legendary St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage, our fun Halloween Costume Party, or our Deer Hunting Contests! We have something for everyone, and there is always something going on at Gyp's! All are welcome!
