Great Piece Meadows Preserve is a vast expanse of open meadow wetland located in Fairfield Township, Essex County, and Montville and Lincoln Park, Morris County, New Jersey. This natural heritage priority site is known for its diverse ecosystem, including rookeries of great blue heron, rare plant species, and habitat for various wildlife such as salamanders, turtles, mink, and muskrat.
Managed by Wildlife Preserves Inc. in collaboration with the New Jersey Green Acres Program, Great Piece Meadows Preserve offers public access for hiking and fishing, while also serving as flood storage and wildlife habitat.
