Established in 1872, the Florence Township Police Department works to preserve peace and reduce crime through the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances. It maintains communication, patrol, crime prevention, detective, fire investigation and traffic safety units. The department operates a domestic violence response team that provides support, information and referral to victims at the time of domestic violence crisis. The Florence Township Police Department hosts an operation reassurance program that conducts checks on senior citizens and disabled individuals. It provides firearm permit and fingerprint identification services. The department supports Project Lifesaver, which is an international program that helps in the early recovery of missing individuals. In addition, the Florence Township Police Department hosts the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. It is located in Florence, N.J.
