Since 1834, First United Methodist has assembled in a striking Gothic church on West Main Street in downtown Freehold. To satisfy the needs of a diverse congregation, the church provides three services – contemporary, traditional and Spanish language – all of which include a children's message. In addition to religious education for children and teens, the church offers stimulating adult reading and discussion groups and fellowship programs for women and men. After-school tutoring for Hispanic children and English as a second language classes also are available. In addition to efforts to support the local Hispanic community, First United Methodist Church supports international missions.
