Family Intervention Services is a private, non-profit organization providing crisis intervention, counseling, case management, education and support to New Jersey individuals and famlies.
The organization assists some 3,600 children and families annually.
Family Intervention Services' mission statement states that it "believes that healthy families build strong communities and that strong communities protect and nurture children."
Counselors meet with families in turmoil to help them re-establish relationships and restore communication.
Among the services FIS provides are help in designing and managing a family budget, negotiating non-profit and government social services, finding affordable and reliable day care and health care services, managing supervised parental visits, and locating appropriate community services.
