Children's Aid and Family Services, based in Paramus, N.J., is a regional provider of human services and child welfare programs. Established in 1899, it serves the communities of northern New Jersey. Its experienced professionals include licensed clinical social workers, child psychiatrists, family life educators, licensed family counselors and early childhood educators. In conjunction with the New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services, it has developed a program to supplement the agency's group homes in caring for disturbed children, adolescents and pregnant teenagers. They receive therapeutic care under the guidance of trained foster parents and live in their homes. It also offers counseling to birth parents to help them make an informed decision as to whether they wish to make an adoption plan for their child. In addition, it offers postadoption counseling services, providing individual, family and group counseling for the adoptive family, as well as the adoptees.
