The City of Burlington Fire Division is responsible for coordinating fire and rescue services throughout the city. Under the supervision of the Mayor as Public Safety Director, the division advises the administration and council on fire company matters, reviews policy consequences, and coordinates the activities of assistant chiefs. The division is comprised of volunteer fire companies, including Mitchell Fire Company #3, Neptune Hose Company #5, Niagara Hose Company #6, and Endeavor Emergency Squad.
In addition to the volunteer fire companies, the City of Burlington Fire Division has specialized units to better serve the community. These units include Homeland Security, Fire Dept. Preparedness, Safety, Training, Research and Development, and Community Relations. The division has a proud history dating back to 1742 when the first fire company, Endeavor, began operations. The fire division is always in need of dedicated individuals who are interested in becoming volunteer firefighters.
