The Berkeley Heights school system is comprised of six schools that primarily serve the residents of Berkeley Heights and also the borough of Mountainside at the high school level.
The school system is headed by Superintendent Judith Rattner. The system is overseen by a board of education consisting of 10 members, including two student members. Paul T. Beisser is school board president.
Schools include the Mary Kay McMillin Early Childhood Center, Mountain Park Elementary School, Thomas P. Hughes Elementary School, William Woodruff Elementary School, Columbia Middle School and Governor Livingston High School.
The school system says its mission is, "to challenge students to explore, to excel and to embrace a lifetime of learning by developing a staff devoted to excellence, applying resources effectively, fostering a culture of mutual respect and integrity and offering engaging academic curricula and diverse co-curricular programs."
