Post 414 is the Lawrence Township chapter of the non-profit American Legion, chartered by Congress in 1919. As the nation's largest veterans service organization, the American Legion is "committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans."
Post 414 is located on Berwyn Place, adjacent to Lawrence Township's Veterans Park. The post's main meeting is held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm, but other meetings are held throughout the month.
The American Legion, both nationally and locally, raises money for the families of wounded and fallen military personnel and holds numerous community activities throughout the year, such as the respected Boys State government education program and youth baseball leagues intended to promote teamwork and sportsmanship.
