Being a good doctor means making connections with people. The field of family medicine lets me build relationships with my patients. It allows me to work with colleagues who are dedicated to the whole life of the patient. I see my role as someone who listens to my patients and helps them feel heard. I want them to be comfortable sharing their concerns with me. Making this connection with my patients means we can work together to resolve the issue at hand. It also makes it easier to tackle health concerns that might arise in the future. It’s very gratifying to be part of my patients’ lives and to know I have helped them through a difficult time.
