Presently under the leadership of Rev. Deborah Knowlton, the First Congregational Church of Hampton was founded in 1638 along with three other historic seacoast churches. A small and very friendly congregation, First Congregational Church is handicapped accessible and offers hearing devices and large-print bulletins for those who need them. The church also has a space set aside for nursing mothers and parents with infants.
Thirteen years ago, First Congregational Church created the Baby Closet, where families in need may come for clothing for babies and infants through size 4, as well as for diapers, furniture, baby food, toys and books. The Baby Closet is open Mon - Fri, 9am - noon. There is no charge for items from the Baby Closet.
The church also hosts Boy Scout and Girl Scout meetings, as well as special needs groups. E-mail the church at: info@firsthamptonchurch.org.
