(2/24/24) Andrew Spector, MD, an outstanding clinician, colleague and member of the community, is being erroneously connected with a video on the TikTok platform involving hateful conduct by an individual who may have the same or a similar name. Dr. Spector is not the individual in the video, nor does he or his family have any connection to the person being filmed whatsoever. Dr. Spector and Dartmouth Health unequivocally condemn the hateful and racist language and conduct in the video. Dr. Spector and his family are being subjected to threats and assaults on their character based on this harmful case of mistaken identity. Dartmouth Health will consider all available legal options to address this harmful and defamatory conduct. This is an unfortunate example of how a rush to judgment without verification, followed by the viral spread of misinformation, can damage reputations and cause additional harm. Dr. Spector is a caring person and a dedicated doctor whose work is focused on promoting the health, well-being, and safety of everyone in our community. He and his family do not deserve to be subjected to these attacks. We must all stand up to hate and violence in all its forms.
