Desert Research Institute (DRI) is a renowned environmental research institution based in Nevada. With over 60 years of history, DRI is dedicated to studying and understanding various aspects of the environment, including arid lands, climate change, air and water quality, sustainability, and life in extreme environments. Their team of over 400 highly-skilled scientists, engineers, technicians, students, and staff work collaboratively across three research divisions, conducting projects on a global scale to address the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.
DRI is an independent organization within the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and operates as a non-degree granting institution. While focused on conducting cutting-edge research, DRI also collaborates with other NSHE institutions, such as the University of Nevada, Reno and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, allowing undergraduate and graduate students to work in their labs and receive guidance from their researchers. DRI relies on grants, contracts, and private donations to fund their research, and their impactful work is made possible by the support of private donors who share their commitment to solving environmental problems.
