Founded in 1961, Catholic Community Services of Northern Nevada operates a dining room that serves food to more than 400 individuals. Its dining room purchases high-protein items, such as peanut butter, canned stew and chili to supplement the United States Department of Agriculture s foods. Its St. Vincent s Food Pantry serves families, elderly widows, veterans homeless individuals and anyone else struggling to put food on the table. Catholic Community Services of Northern Nevada provides assistance with the immigration process, including naturalization and citizenship, family visa petitions, adjustment of status, employment authorizations, document translation and interpretation services. The community also operates a thrift shop that offers sofas, desks, televisions, toys and clothing for needy individuals. Catholic Community Services of Northern Nevada participates in Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters and in Project HOME, which raised clothing, furniture and monetary donations for the Mizpah Hotel fire victims. It maintains a location in Reno, Nev.
