Established in 1927, the Urban League of Nebraska is a nonprofit organization that offers direct services through programming and advocacy for economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights. Headquartered in Omaha, Neb., it is one of the affiliates in over 30 states of the National Urban League movement. The Urban League of Nebraska partners with various organizations, such as ConAgra Foods, First Data Corporation, Lozier Corporation, The Burlington Capital Group, McCarthy Group, American National Bank and MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company. It employs various volunteers who offer a variety of fundraising, community awareness and leadership skills development programs. The Urban League of Nebraska operates the Whitney Young, Jr. Academy, which provides opportunities for the academic, personal, career and social development of people.
