Established in 1857, the Omaha Police Department preserves peace and safety, enforces laws and ordinances and safeguards constitutional rights. Located in Omaha, Neb., it provides online crime statistics and maps, as well as crime reporting applications. The Omaha Police Department operates a citizens police academy that provides training programs related to laws, firearms instruction, defensive tactics, first aid, patrol procedures and investigations. The department supports the Crime Stoppers program, which is affiliated with the National Crime Stoppers Organization and provides opportunities for citizens to report illegal activities to volunteers of the program.
