Casa de Oro Foods is among the largest tortilla companies in the United States, manufacturing more than 6 million tortillas per day. Maintaining one of two plants in Omaha, Neb., Casa de Oro Foods primary focus is the foodservice, co-pack, private label and retail markets. As of January 1993, Casa de Oro Foods was officially in business as a new division within ConAgra Foods. In 1998, the company purchased Mesa Foods in Louisville, Ky., which in addition to heat pressed tortillas, manufactured tortilla chips, taco shells, corn tortillas, pre-fried chips and flatbread products. In 2004, Plaza Belmont Management Group of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, an investment company specializing in food manufacturing companies, purchased Casa de Oro Foods from ConAgra. Casa de Oro brands encompass Chi-Chi s, Mesa and Casa de Oro as well as private label products, are found in all areas east of the Rockies. In addition, the company supplies major U.S. food companies with manufactured products. Casa de Oro produces proprietary products and company products for national restaurants and food service accounts.
