West Mont, a Montana non-profit charitable organization, began in 1973 as a two person agency. Over the years, we have grown into a comprehensive organization focused on providing a broad range of services for people with special needs including housing, respite care, vocational training, employment, medical care and recreational activities. West Mont has had a big impact on the Helena community both through broadening the understanding about the abilities of individuals with disabilities and growing with the needs of the community. Funded in part by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services ( Developmental Disabilities Division ), West Mont employs over 180 people. We operate 10-residential facilities in Helena including The Farm in the Dell and Melodee House and 3-vocational centers. We have maintained our strong commitment to developing and providing service options to enable those with disabilities to reach their maximum potential. West Mont's newest project, The Caldwell House will provide healthcare for medically fragile or terminally ill individuals with disabilities. Currently, their only options in our community are an institution ( Boulder ) or senior care facility, yet most are not senior citizens. Our goal is to break ground in 2010 and open in 2011.
