Located in Helena, Mont., the Water Resources Division offers a variety of programs for the protection of water. It manages and maintains the state-owned dams, reservoirs, and canals. The division also develops and recommends in state, interstate, and international water policies. The division consists of an administration unit and four bureaus, including water management, water rights, state water projects and water operations bureaus. It also offers recreational benefits, including camping, fishing and boating. The Water Resources Division also issues licenses for water well drillers and contractors. The division also provides floodplain and water measurement management programs. It is a part of the Department of Natural Resources & Conservation, which provides land management and forestry assistance services.
