Project Vote Smart is a national nonpartisan research organization that tracks the job performances of more than 40,000 candidates and incumbents at presidential, congressional, gubernatorial and state legislative levels. It provides information to the general public through online portals and research hot lines. The project maintains an online database of contact information, voting records, issue positions, speeches, backgrounds, and federal and state elected officials. It receives funds from grants and the individual contributions of over 45,000 members. Project Vote Smart offers a national internship program that emphasizes providing access to a high-tech research center in Montana, as well as assistance with academic knowledge regarding American politics for students.
